Environmental Achievements

  • Implementation of measures to reduce the environmental impact of construction, including using low-noise and low-vibration machinery, treating wastewater, and avoiding damage to important plant species.
  • Basic agreement with a power generation company to reduce water withdrawal and return it to the Oi River.

Social Achievements

  • Chuo Shinkansen project aims to drastically improve travel time between major cities, stimulating economic activity and improving societal convenience.
  • Progress in land acquisition for the Shinagawa-Nagoya section (approx. 80% complete at end of June 2024).
  • Progress in finding entities to use excavated soil (approx. 80% of the amount as of end of March 2024).

Governance Achievements

  • Consultation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to ensure that the principles of a privately owned company are not hindered by the application of the Nationwide Shinkansen Railway Development Act.
  • Approval of the Construction Implementation Plan (Part 3) for the Shinagawa-Nagoya section in December 2023.
