Environmental Achievements

• Implemented various procedures for energy management, water preservation and resource efficiency. Use of effluent treatment plant, waste water recycling/reuse.

Social Achievements

• Continued to take initiatives by supporting education, healthcare, environments and other social causes around the Mills area. Provision of free secondary school to workers children, provision of subsidized meals to workers, supply of free ration/medical assistance to needy persons. Runs a free Dispensary in Mills area and provides free medicines to the poor patients.

Governance Achievements

• Complied with the requirements of the Companies Act, 2017 and the Listed Companies (Code of Corporate Governance) Regulations, 2019 with respect to the composition, procedures in the meetings of the Board and its committees. Annual evaluation of the Board of the Company was carried out.

Environmental Challenges

• Losses suffered by the Company. Non-supply of sugarcane causing intermittent operation. Diversion of sugarcane towards tax-free commercial gur making causing temporary mill closure and impacting sugar recovery. Expected country-wide sugar production suppressing prices.

Mitigation Strategies

• Requested Cane Commissioner/Director Food, Food Directorate, KPK and FBR to take measures to address sugarcane diversion and taxation of commercial gur. Exploring new options to ensure appropriate returns on available funds.
