Long-term Goals:

Achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Short-term Goals:

Reduce total energy consumption by 5% by year 2025.
Reduce GHG emission from the Group’s operations by 5% by year 2025.
Reduction in the total amount of waste generated from the Group’s operations by at least 10% compared to FY2022.
Reduction in the disposal through landfill by at least 5%.

Environmental Challenges

Reducing overall energy consumption while expanding operations.
Managing Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) due to its high acidity and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD).
Minimising domestic waste disposal.
Reducing GHG emissions from waste disposal to landfill (more than 50% of total emissions).

Mitigation Strategies

Establishing reasonable unit measurements for energy consumption (consumption per hectare or per worker).
Implementing an anaerobic biogas ponding system (Modified Cover Lagoon) and an extended aeration ponding system for POME treatment.
Renewing commitment to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste.
Improving coordination of in-field activities to reduce diesel consumption.
Integrating waste from POMs for organic fertiliser application.
