Environmental Achievements

  • Reduced natural gas consumption by 250,000 m³ by replacing shrink film with stretch wrap foil.
  • Installed several heat exchangers to extract energy from wastewater effluent.
  • Installed 7,000 solar panels at Oude Pekela facility.
  • Used biogas in steam boilers at Bad Nieuweschans (1 million m³) and Coevorden (360,000 m³) mills.
  • Partnered with a wood-drying facility to reduce gas consumption by 7.5 million m³ per year.
  • Implemented a new biocidal treatment in San Andrés to reduce COD and starch intake in industrial wastewater.
  • Invested €5.6 million to reduce COD emissions at Bad Nieuweschans and Coevorden by installing anaerobic reactors (85% COD removal).

  • Rolled out Safety Leadership Workshops training for all management.
  • Introduced Weekly Safety Observation Tours.

Long-term Goals:
  • Reach net zero emissions for Scope 1 and 2 by 2050.

  • Reduce the environmental footprint from raw materials sourced by supplier collaboration.
  • Strengthen circular packaging design criteria to further support packaging materials to be recycled at scale at their end-of-life.
Short-term Goals:

  • Roll out FOCOS software to all Solidus locations.
