Environmental Achievements

  • Emission and discharge of wastes were in compliance with local laws and regulations. No penalty nor warning was received during the year.
  • Continuous R&D work on raising the efficiency use of energy, water and steam.
  • Relocation of production facilities to upgrade facilities and streamline processes, improving production efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

  • Organized various extracurricular and social activities for employees and encouraged participation in community investment activities.

  • Maintained compliance with all local and national labor regulations, prohibiting child or forced labor.

Governance Achievements

  • Continued efforts to enhance the Group’s enterprise risk management and internal control systems. Trainings and seminars were given to management and relevant staff.
  • Established a Corporate Governance Committee to ensure the effectiveness of corporate governance and system of internal non-financial controls.
  • Implemented a whistleblowing policy and procedures to address corruption and violations; adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

  • 16 work-related accidents happened in the Group’s production sites in 2018 (12 in 2017).
  • Increased emission levels in 2018 compared to 2017 due to increased production.
  • Customer complaints and product returns related to concentration, color, and packaging problems.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Established investigation teams to look into accidents and provided extra safety training.
  • Implemented realtime monitoring devices connected to the local Environmental Bureau’s network.
  • Improved production procedures to avoid future quality issues and implemented product recall procedures.

  • Stringent supplier certification process; quality control/assurance process during corn procurement; assessment of suppliers based on qualifications, background, food safety, product quality, pricing, and delivery.
