Environmental Achievements

  • Reduced GHG emissions by 15% in Scope 1 and 2 (location-based) and 10% in Scope 3 from a 2021 baseline (verified by Carbon Footprint Ltd.)
  • All suppliers now use polybags made from 100% recycled content.
  • Introduced paper mailing bags for e-commerce deliveries outside the Netherlands.
  • 95% of materials used were organic, recycled, biobased, compostable, or sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative (mass balance principle).

Social Achievements

  • Added an independent complaint system to another Tier 1 factory in India, enhancing access to remedy for 4,294 garment workers.
  • Carried out a Living Wage Gap Analysis for the second year running and extended it beyond Tier 1 Suppliers.
  • DETOX program included 107 factories under the ZDHC scope, with an average conformance of 77% against the ZDHC Wastewater Guideline parameters.

Climate Goals & Targets

Long-term Goals:
  • Achieve 100% low impact chemical applications in G-Star’s products by 2030.
  • Achieve full product transparency on fibers, lower impact production processes, certifications, recyclability and manufacturing unit on all G-Star RAW products by 2030.
  • Ensure 1.000.000 jeans repaired, reused or recycled by 2030.
Medium-term Goals:
  • Reduce GHG emissions by 15% (base year 2021) by 2025; 42% by 2030.
  • Ensure 20% of G-Star’s collection is made with Cradle to Cradle Certified® fabrics by 2025.
  • Ensure 75% of the materials in our collections are regenerative, recycled, organic, bio-based and/or compostable by 2025; 100% by 2030.
Short-term Goals:
  • Achieve brand-level certification for the Organic Cotton Standard and Global Recycled Standard.
  • Expand Fair Wear Complaints Mechanism to at least 1 additional sourcing country.
  • Increase the amount of ecommerce parcels to be delivered carbon neutral.
