- Conducted Energy & Water Audit along with Carbon Foot printing of all projects.
Social Achievements
- Various developmental initiatives to augment the standard of living of the local community; mobile dispensaries providing healthcare; hospitals providing healthcare facilities to employees and community; rural infrastructure development (roads, community halls, sewerage systems, water tanks, RO Plants); scholarship scheme for rural girl child education.
Governance Achievements

- Seven meetings of the Board of Directors were held during the year.
- Audit Committee met four times during the Financial Year 2013-14.

Long-term Goals:
- Setting up world-class International Centre for Mining Safety and Automation (iCEM) and Entrepreneurship (iCREATE); Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) Project; exploration of business opportunities in Beach Sand Mining, Bio Fertilizer and Bio-Fuel; business in Lignite Transportation through authorized transporters.
Medium-term Goals:
- To double the number of joint ventures based on new minerals for value addition.
Short-term Goals:
- To commence limestone production.
Environmental Challenges
- Stiff competition from alternate fuels (petcoke and imported coal); delay in land acquisition; difficulties in expanding operations and increased costs due to stricter environmental regulations; slow progress in finalization of resettlement and rehabilitation issues; growing presence of private companies in the sector leading to stiffer competition; limited scope of expansion.
Mitigation Strategies
- Venturing into exploration and mining of high-end minerals in regions outside India; venturing into value added services through joint ventures; foray in power production; increasing the geographical reach; diversifying operations in other sectors such as power generation; implementing necessary internal controls; undertaking activities to ensure sustainable development.
