Environmental Challenges
- MIDI Group has registered a loss after tax of €2.5 million during the financial year under review compared to a profit of €9.9 million registered during the previous financial year.
- Contrary to the previous financial year, the Company had very few apartments which it could deliver to the respective owners.
- Revenues from sales of property amounted to €5.6 million (2015: €38.8 million).
Mitigation Strategies
- The launch of the remaining 02 apartments will be staggered over 2017 and 2018.
- Finishing works in the 02 block is now well underway and it is expected that works will be completed during the first half of 2018.
- Hence, profits from sale of 02 apartments are expected to be registered, in line with international accounting standards, in the Company's financial results for the year ending 31 December 2018, during which year the deeds of sale will be published.
- The Group has been reviewing its financing arrangements to ensure that it is in a position to meet its operational and cash flow commitments throughout the twelve-month period subsequent to 31 December 2016.
- MIDI had engaged PwC Global Strategy& as end-to-end international strategy consultant for the Manoel Island project.
- The Company engaged Foster + Partners, a world renowned architectural firm, to draw up a conceptual masterplan for this project.
- The Company's latest announcement "MDI93" confirmed the appointment of Jefferies International Limited as financial adviser for the purposes of identifying and selecting a suitable partner to financially support the development of Manoel Island.
