Environmental Achievements
- Developed ESG Data Quality Plan and presented it to Splunk’s Audit Committee in December 2021.
- Hired a full-time ESG Data Quality Analyst to manage Splunk’s GHG inventory, data quality controls, reporting mechanisms and disclosure compliance and assurance.
- Retained a third-party external assurance provider to externally assure FY22 greenhouse gas data sets (to be published October 2022).
Climate Goals & Targets
Long-term Goals:
- Achieve global net zero emissions at a 1.5°C pathway by 2050.
Short-term Goals:
- Evaluate, develop, and set a suite of shorter-term greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets by the end of Fiscal Year 2023 (Jan 31, 2023).
Environmental Challenges
- Lack of operational control over smaller rented office spaces, resulting in incomplete data for SECR reporting.
- Initial reliance on external consultants for GHG accounting, leading to delays in reporting.
Mitigation Strategies
- Building an in-house GHG accounting practice.
- Transitioning to internal GHG data gathering, consolidation, and reporting.
- Employing an external assurance provider for GHG inventory.
