Environmental Achievements
- 17% of 2021 Revenue was from well decommissioning by our service rigs.
- 2% of 2021 Revenue was from carbon capture, helium, and saltwater disposal wells.
- In 2022, CWC drilled a brine production well for a lithium mining operation, the first of its kind in Alberta.
- Equipped CWC Ironhand Drilling Rigs 2 and 9 with an LED halo crown lighting system, which reduces diesel usage from generators approximately 1,000 L/day
- Three of CWC’s drilling rigs are equipped with bi-fuel systems, which substitutes natural gas for diesel fuel, resulting in 30% less diesel being used in the rig, and allowing the boilers to run fully off natural gas, amounting to average fuel consumption savings of 2,400L/day.
- 2 of CWC’s triple drilling rigs are equipped with highline power, removing the dependence on solely diesel usage to run our rigs.
- All 22 of CWC’s drilling rigs are equipped with top drives. Combined with improved drillstrings, higher pumping capacities, and automation, CWC’s versatile drilling rigs can complete jobs quickly, resulting in approximately 14% fuel saved on longer-reach horizontal wells.
- In 2022, CWC installed its first Tier 4 engine on a service rig, which reduces nitrous oxide (N0x) emissions by 45%, and particulate matter by 80% when compared with a Tier 2 engine.
- Switched 85% of our Canadian facilities over to lower consumption light-emitting diode (“LED” lighting
Social Achievements
- Drafted first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan in 2021.
- Launched an employee assistance program in 2021.
- Piloted a gradual start program in 2021 on our drilling rigs.
