Environmental Achievements

  • Scopes 1 & 2 emissions decreased by 46.4% from 2022 and by 23.4% relative to net sales. Replaced remaining electricity contracts with completely emission-free energy.
  • Donated superfluous laboratory supplies worth approx. EUR 38,000 to universities in Turku.

Social Achievements

  • Offered employee bicycle benefit, with nearly one-fourth of personnel using it; almost half the staff commuted mainly by bicycle or on foot.
  • Offered 10 summer jobs, employed one person through a recruiting training program, and offered internships/thesis work to six students.
  • Maintained excellent customer satisfaction (NPS 65.4).

Governance Achievements

  • Launched Uniogen’s own Code of Conduct, including Code of Conduct training for all employees.
  • Implemented a Whistleblowing channel in December 2023.

Climate Goals & Targets

Long-term Goals:
  • Carbon neutrality by 2030; long product life cycle; environmentally friendly recovery, recycling and disposal of end-of-life equipment.
Medium-term Goals:
  • Carbon neutrality for own emissions (Scopes 1 & 2); reduction of indirect emissions (Scope 3); explore SBTi; complete EPD for equipment; halve combustible waste; most key partners committed to Code of Conduct.
Short-term Goals:
  • Maintain NPS above 50 points; less than 50 customer complaints; continue preparation of ISO 27001 and 14001 certifications.

Environmental Challenges

  • Decline in Covid-19 testing negatively impacted turnover.
  • Integration into a single company created challenges to sustainability reporting due to fragmented information.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Significant product development investments in cancer and infectious disease diagnostics.
  • Developed competence and applied new things to address integration challenges in sustainability reporting.
