Environmental Achievements
- Commenced a review of their Tendering and Work Winning Policy and Tender Risk Review Board Committee Charter to reflect their ambition to pursue opportunities with sound ESG credentials and adopt a risk-based approach with appropriate regard for climate change risk.
- Collaborated with the University of Queensland on a thesis project to expand the mapping and reporting of Thiess' Scope 3 emissions and to identify areas of improvement for reduction strategies.
- Improved accuracy of Scope 3 emissions reporting.
Social Achievements
- Established the Respectful Workplace Taskforce to embed respectful workplace behaviours and values into their company culture.
- Launched the Respectful Workplace Action Plan.

Climate Goals & Targets
Long-term Goals:
- Net zero by 2050 commitment (Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 emissions from diesel combustion in operated fleet).
Medium-term Goals:
- 25% reduction in emissions from diesel combustion in Thiess operated fleet by end of 2035.
- 85% of all light vehicles to be hybrid or battery electric by the end of 2030.
Short-term Goals:
- Net zero Scope 1 and 2 by the end of 2025.
- Increase number of contracted Indigenous businesses to 35 and meet 3% influenceable expenditure target by end of 2023.
