Environmental Achievements

  • Improved significantly year-on-year in several well-renowned sustainability ratings and were selected as one of few companies for S&P’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment Yearbook.
  • Developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy built around the focus topics of climate protection, working conditions, diversity, human rights, integrity, and the circular economy.

Social Achievements

  • Published a comprehensive human rights policy in 2022.
  • Increased internal communications activities, adding quarterly virtual global town hall meetings.
  • Conducted the first global employee survey within the now combined ams OSRAM team, resulting in over 1,300 initiatives globally.

Governance Achievements

  • Harmonized structures and processes related to sustainability.
  • Created an ESG Committee in 2022 to integrate sustainability and ESG parameters into the business strategy.
  • ESG- and sustainability-related topics have been included in the Management Board’s compensation targets since 2022.

  • Macro-economic and geopolitical developments that created exceptional challenges for economies worldwide (war in Ukraine, distortions in global supply chains, cost inflation, and the continued Covid-19 pandemic).
  • Unsupportive market dynamics, less favorable market development, lack of demand recovery in the China and Android markets.
  • Meaningful inventory adjustments in automotive supply chains.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Successfully delivered solid results for 2022 despite headwinds.
  • Confirmed its position as the global leader in automotive LED lighting and expanded its design pipeline in future applications.
  • Achieved the full set of integration milestones for 2022 and are focused on realizing further progress through 2023.
  • Realized several further planned disposals last year, completing the divestment process announced with the acquisition of OSRAM.
  • Improved its debt position and balance sheet structure, repaying well over EUR 400 million of outstanding debt.
