Environmental Achievements

  • Reduced Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions in 2022 vs 2021. Most of the Scope 1 reduction was due to repairs addressing an equipment failure in 2021. The majority of the Scope 2 reduction was attributed to a 25% reduction in steam usage at the largest operating facility.
  • Decreased total waste generated and waste intensity in 2022 compared to 2021.
  • Developed and marketed AMVAC Greenplants™ micronutrients, tailored to accommodate plant development cycles to enable greater nutrient uptake, saving water and reducing equipment use.
  • Developed K35, a potassium citrate-based fertilizer for pineapples, resulting in higher leaf weight, less plant damage, significant water reduction (13,014 liters/hectare over 18 cycles), and a 34% reduction in CO2 equivalent emissions.

Social Achievements

  • Launched AMVACARE social action program in Brazil to support community groups.
  • Supported NAEA (Niños y Adolescentes en Armonía, A.C.) in Mexico, providing services to at-risk youth.
  • Established the AMVAC Women’s Network, an employee resource group focused on leadership, management, and production skill enhancement.
  • Continued support of scholarship programs for high school and college students.
  • Expanded voluntary employee wellness program to include annual biometric screening and health coaching.

Governance Achievements

  • Retained ERM CVS to provide limited assurance for 2022 environmental and safety data under ISAE 3000.

Climate Goals & Targets

Environmental Challenges

  • Supply chain disruptions due to the global pandemic.
  • High water risk identified at two manufacturing sites.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Reduced single-source supply risk by qualifying additional raw material sources.
  • Became less reliant on distant supply points and established a local procurement team in Asia Pacific.
  • Regularly reviews make-versus-buy decisions, maximizing use of own production facilities.
  • Prioritizing high-risk water locations for focused improvement efforts.

Supply Chain Management

Responsible Procurement
  • Supplier Code of Conduct requiring compliance with quality and security policies, federal transportation and security requirements, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Climate-Related Risks & Opportunities

Opportunities
  • Development of energy-efficient products and processes, maximizing carbon sequestration in soil.

  • Implemented stormwater capture plan at Los Angeles facility, capturing 144,217 gallons of rainwater in 2023 for use in production (increased from 37,830 gallons in 2022)
  • Development and use of BioWake® biological seed lubricant, a soy-based alternative to traditional talc or graphite-based lubricants, resulting in cleaner and safer application.

Social Achievements

  • Established Employee Resource Groups, such as the AMVAC Women Network.
  • Supported community projects and programs in Latin America, including environmental awareness campaigns and employee-led initiatives to reduce energy consumption by 35%.

Governance Achievements

  • 33% of board members are female, and 22% are from underrepresented groups.

Climate Goals & Targets

Environmental Challenges

  • Increased recordable incident rates in 2022.
  • Water stress in certain regions.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Comprehensive training, robust hazard recognition and correction, and re-evaluation of job responsibilities to reduce recordable incident rates (lower rates in 2023).
  • Water risk assessment conducted in 2022, identifying high-risk locations and prioritizing mitigation efforts (e.g., stormwater capture plan).
