Environmental Achievements
- Developed a system for collecting Scope 3 emissions data to reduce human error and data omissions.
- Added three categories (leased assets, leased property, and investments) to Scope 3 emissions calculations compared to the previous year.
- Established a mid- to long-term roadmap for product/technology and conducted various technology developments to reduce emissions from Cat.11 (use of sold products), the largest contributor to Scope 3 emissions.
- Provided greenhouse gas emissions calculation training and disseminated Samsung Heavy Industries' greenhouse gas reduction cases to major supply chains to reduce emissions from Cat.1 (supply chain), the second largest contributor to Scope 3 emissions.

Environmental Challenges
- Scope 3 emissions account for approximately 99% of total greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) due to the nature of the shipbuilding industry.
- The majority of Scope 3 emissions come from Cat.11 (use of sold products) due to the nature of the order-based industry.
Mitigation Strategies
- Developing carbon-reducing/high-efficiency product technologies and managing the supply chain to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
- Continuous improvement efforts to refine methodologies and expand the scope of calculation in line with industry characteristics.
- Development of an in-house Scope 3 emissions data collection system to eliminate human error and missing data.
