Climate Impact & Sustainability Data (2012)
Reporting Period: 2012
Environmental Metrics
Climate Goals & Targets
Medium-term Goals:
- Gradually expunge older drill holes from the database as new drilling is conducted
- Produce an updated Mineral Resource estimate based on results from the proposed 2012 diamond drilling program
Short-term Goals:
- Conduct a detailed ground magnetometer survey
- Undertake a structural mapping study
- Conduct detailed mineralogical studies and metallurgical testing
- Conduct a topographic surface survey and construct an accurate surface DEM
- Identify and remove drill holes with non-standard sampling from the database
Environmental Challenges
- Poor sampling practices in pre-2011 drilling (selecting whole pieces of core instead of splitting)
- Lack of downhole surveys and geological logging in some pre-2011 holes
- Poor core recovery in some intervals
- Duplicate sample numbers in the database
- Use of uncertified barren material as blanks in the 2011 QA/QC program resulting in numerous failures
- Abrupt grade variations between closely spaced drill holes (possibly due to undetected faults or survey errors)
Mitigation Strategies
- Independent sampling by RPA to verify assay results
- Exclusion of some sample intervals and drill holes from the resource estimate due to sampling irregularities
- Identification and correction of duplicate sample numbers
- Recommendation to use commercial coarse-grained, barren certified reference material (CRM) for future QA/QC programs
- Recommendation to investigate and re-analyze accuracy and precision failures from the 2011 QA/QC program
- Recommendation to investigate abrupt grade variations between closely spaced drill holes
- Recommendation to gradually expunge older drill holes from the database as new drilling is conducted
