Environmental Metrics

Climate Goals & Targets

Medium-term Goals:
  • Increase the number of MNAs to reach Paralympic status and then (if feasible) pursue the required MNA numbers for Olympics qualification.
  • Increase the number of non-bowls events for our members – includes holding an Annual World Bowls Conference.

  • Increase WB revenue 2x over the next three years.
  • Establish a baseline satisfaction level with MNA members – minimum target of 80% total satisfaction.
  • Increase all social and media channels by 200% in year one of this plan.

  • Poor branding and positioning of the game internationally.
  • Lack of broadcast relationships, sponsorship, and commercial development.
  • Need for more diversified revenue streams.
  • Lack of leadership and strategic direction.
  • Limited support in growing the game within smaller MNAs.
  • Poor collaboration and sharing of information with MNAs.
  • Lack of synergy and support to MNAs from World Bowls.
  • Too much focus on events.
  • Old "Boys Club" culture at World Bowls, leading to weak connections with MNAs.
  • Inability to provide innovative leadership with respect to Commonwealth Games program.
  • Lack of initiative to use the pandemic to provide support to MNAs or reflect on existing strategic plans.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Recommendations for governance improvements (e.g., updating constitution, skills-based board appointments, succession planning).
  • Recommendations for game expansion and development (e.g., regional buddy system, equipment exchange program, new game format development).
  • Recommendations for operational improvements (e.g., outsourcing website and marketing, annual world conference).
  • Recommendations for commercial and events improvements (e.g., developing a new shorter game format, reviewing hosting fees).
