Climate Goals & Targets
Long-term Goals:
- Code Zero program aims for a sustainable future by 2050.
Environmental Challenges
- COVID-19 pandemic causing travel restrictions, lockdowns, and project disruptions.
- Crew changes becoming extremely challenging due to international travel restrictions.
- Unexpected anthropogenic underwater material (including unexploded ordnance) during Elbe deepening project.
- Difficult subsoil conditions in the Elbe deepening project.
- Limited accessibility of certain areas due to breeding waders and fish spawning during Elbe deepening project.
Mitigation Strategies
- Established internal task force to find escape routes for projects.
- Chartered planes, deployed long-distance buses, and approached ministries to facilitate crew changes.
- Used creative solutions to ensure safe crew changes.
