Environmental Achievements

  • More than 740 Million KWH of electricity consumed for Bakrieland’s entire operation activities. All Bakrieland’s business units and operation conduct emission reduction program, such as: fossil fuel reduction, providing a safe and comfortable pedestrian area, and commuting fasilities with public transportation, and trial run using alternative eco-friendly energy sources, namely solar panel.
  • 2,539,235 Kg is the total amount of waste managed by Bakrieland at various waste management facilities.
  • 30 ha area of Grand ELTY Krakatoa is designated for mangrove conservation area, which helps to conserve the natural habitat of the surrounding area and drive growth of the local eco-tourism potential.
  • 60% of total area of JungleLand Theme Park is conserved for Green Open Space and the theme park is designed to minimize alteration to the natural landscape of the area

Environmental Challenges

  • Several government policies have adversely affected the growth of commercial and residential properties in Indonesia.
  • In 2015, Indonesia experienced a slowdown in economic growth that reached 4.79%, compared to 2014 where the economy grew at 5.02%.
  • Lowering the BI rate from 7.75% to 7.50% in February 2015 has not brought about a sufficient positive impact on the sales of Bakrieland products.
  • The tax regulation on luxury goods also affected property sales as most investors preferred to take the wait and see approach on most significant purchases.
Mitigation Strategies
  • continuing with several strategies that have been applied since 2014, particularly in regard to the consolidation of the Company assets and focused its efforts on the development quick-yielding as well as high-return projects.
  • For its residential business, Bakrieland concentrated on developing projects outside of the Jabodetabek area, primarily in Yogyakarta and Sidoarjo.
  • Bakrieland’s subsidiary, PT Graha Andrasentra Propertindo Tbk (GAP), will continue to focus on developing the ‘Jungle Series’ theme park and commercial properties, as part of the supporting facility.
