Environmental Challenges
- Supply chain disruptions due to congestion in major Chinese ports in 2021, leading to delivery delays and increased transportation costs.
- Reduced operating capacity of Chinese factories due to electricity shortages (carbon emission reduction initiatives and coal shortages).
- Reduced visibility of order books due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with only one-month forecasts.
- War in Ukraine affecting European consumption due to shortages of certain raw materials and price increases.
- Uncertainty regarding the long-term effects of the pandemic and the recent end of China's zero-COVID-19 policy.
Mitigation Strategies
- The company uses COFACE insurance to cover risks associated with customer receivables. For new clients, an outstanding balance request is made, and an investigation may be requested if exclusivity is granted to a client in a given territory. For clients outside this guarantee, goods are paid for before shipment; for clients with this guarantee, goods are delivered up to the granted outstanding balance. In case of exceeding outstanding balance, goods are only delivered against advance payment or the establishment of a confirmed documentary credit or with a first-demand bank guarantee. In addition, the seniority of receivables is regularly monitored.
