Environmental Achievements

  • Large proportion of take-away paper and cardboard packaging certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) since 2017.
  • Replaced plastic containers for portioning pasta with bags made from renewable raw materials in 2014.
  • All out-of-house packaging free of chemical additives such as BPA, BPS or polyfluorinated chemicals since mid-2017.
  • Group-wide directive issued in 2017 that bread should no longer be added by default, but only on request.

Social Achievements

  • Increased length of service by 10% in 2018.
  • Achieved 83% of restaurant management developed from within own ranks in 2018 (target was 80%).
  • Introduced barn eggs as the minimum standard in all 33 countries in 2018.
  • Around 75% of Vapiano restaurants worldwide do not use eggs from battery hens.
