Environmental Achievements

  • Reduced scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by more than nine percent from the previous year.
  • Increased the portion of purchased renewable electricity from 51 percent to 53 percent.
  • Life Cycle Management handled over 85,000 units, resulting in estimated emissions savings of around 24.5 thousand tons CO2e.

Social Achievements

  • Continued work on developing a formal, group-wide gender equality plan.
  • Created the People and Culture Council in 2021 to address employee working conditions and human rights.
  • Initiated an extensive employee survey in 2022 to identify employee experiences and priorities regarding sustainability.

  • Continued work on sustainable procurement through annual audits, self-assessments and documentation reviews.

Climate Goals & Targets

Long-term Goals:
  • Achieve net zero GHG emissions over the entire value chain by 2050.
Medium-term Goals:
  • Reduce GHG emissions within scope 1 and 2 by 75 percent by 2040.
Short-term Goals:
  • Reduce Group GHG emissions from own operations (scope 1 and 2) by 50 percent and value chain emissions (scope 3) related to own operations by 30 percent by 2030.

Environmental Challenges

  • Difficulty in accessing data and calculating value chain emissions (scope 3).
  • Transition to electric vehicles comes with challenges such as higher electricity consumption and indirect emissions in the production chain.
  • Varying local waste removal systems make consistent waste management challenging.
Mitigation Strategies
  • Continued mapping of the entire Group’s value chain emissions (scope 3) and development of an action plan to reduce emissions.
  • Continuous review of opportunities to phase out fossil fuel-driven vehicles.
  • Implementing local steps to increase the amount of recycled waste and preventative measures to improve resource efficiency.
