Climate Goals & Targets

Long-term Goals:
  • Establish WCC as a core Australian women’s organisation collaborating for an international women’s movement push towards COP 31 (‘Gender COP’) with an international women’s conference in 2026.
Medium-term Goals:
  • Review and promote a proposal to develop a united national plan before and during the coming election campaign.
  • Seek funding for a project to run Restorative Circles focused on top global corporate carbon emitters.
Short-term Goals:
  • Continue working with women in governments and civil society to encourage multiparty collaboration and develop a coalition of Australian women’s organisations working towards a major gender focus at COP 31.

Environmental Challenges

  • Securing sufficient funding to support paid admin and project management staff.
  • Maintaining a quality website and social media presence with limited capacity.
  • Overcoming resistance to forming multiparty women’s groups in parliament.
  • Addressing the lack of gender equality focus in the broader climate movement.
