Environmental Achievements

  • Bonnier Books reduced emissions and deepened understanding of its supply chain; launched new paper quality reducing emissions by approximately 1,400 tons.
  • Bonnier News continued to decrease emissions in line with its commitment to reduce emissions by 55 percent by 2030.
  • Adlibris reduced climate impact from inbound freight through transition of air freight from the USA to shorter transport routes and reduced amount of goods transported from the USA; outlet sale allowed 4,000 books to reach a reader instead of being discarded.
  • Bonnier Fastigheter reduced climate emissions from the property’s heating by 75% through a geoenergy project; recertified two properties and newly certified one, all in accordance with the British certification system BREEAM In-Use.

  • Bonnier News supported independent journalism in war zones, including a donation to the Ukrainian Media Fund and aid transport with equipment; journalism reaped success in the form of various awards.

Environmental Challenges

  • Several businesses in the Bonnier Group were affected by the declining economy with rising interest rates, inflation, and a weaker advertising market.
  • Challenges in the paper market with a structural reduction in the number of suppliers resulted in a greater need to use paper from mills with a higher climate impact.
  • The advertising business was severely affected by a declining economy and challenges in several industries burdened by increasing costs and interest rates.
  • SF Studios’ operations were affected by external factors such as rising interest rates and a challenging financing climate; several streamers and other customers have undergone restructuring.

  • Printing suppliers who take active steps to minimize the consumption of materials and their environmental impact are prioritized (Bonnier News).

  • Adlibris signed agreements with partners for the reconstruction of the logistics facility in Morgongåva.
